Taurus

We're very excited that NASA has funded Taurus for development and a science flight from Wanaka, New Zealand.  Taurus is an experiment to measure the polarized anisotropies in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) on the largest angular scales.  To achieve this, it is necessary to disentangle the polarized emission of our own Galaxy from the cosmological signal.  Taurus is designed to provide high fidelity to the largest angular scales at frequencies where Galactic thermal dust emission is dominant.   These data will allow an improved understanding of how the first generations of stars came to be (the epoch of reionization) and provide an important measurement of the polarized CMB fluctuations on angular scales larger than size of your fist, projected on the sky.  Currently, these large scales are only poorly constrained.  More to come soon!
